Collingwood has launched its television commercial for 2013, with a voiceover written and spoken by senior coach Nathan Buckley. The video, which was filmed over two days at the MCG, is the third instalment of the Side by Side campaign theme, developed by Spike in collaboration with the Club, that began with the March to October ad in 2011.

Spike is proud to behind two of the big new additions to both the Melbourne Stars and the Sydney Sixers for Big Bash League 2… Following on from designing and producing Star Man for the Stars last season, we were asked to produce his female counterpart this year. The reigning BBL and T20 Champions League champions, the Sydney Sixers, also commissioned Spike to come up with a mascot that represented the glitzy, rock and roll, party atmosphere of their brand.

Spike has produced St Kilda’s Loyalty Unites Us campaign creative, including the TVC where we were given unprecedented access to the team during training and pre-match, as well as its former stars, to give viewers a close up, candid perspective of the club’s inner sanctum.

NRL club Wests Tigers engaged Spike Creative to create a powerful and emotional membership campaign for season 2013. The message was to speak to the passionate supporter base that live and breathe the game and their team, and to come from their heroes, the players they go to see each week. The campaign creative was primarily rolled out via a dedicated membership website and printed brochure.

Phase 2 of the RaboDirect Melbourne Rebels 2013 membership campaign has been created, with the message of “Our home is your home” targeted at new members, as a follow on from the ‘family’ concept of their initial campaign that was aimed at renewing members. The rollout included reskinning the Rebels’ main website as well as their Membership micro-site. A Member Get Member sub-campaign was also launched shortly thereafter to compliment the acquisition phase.

Spike is the chosen creative agency behind two big cycling events – the Hanover Ride for Home Charity Ride and the Cycling Australia Road National Championships. Both feature gun Aussie rider Simon Gerrans as the hero of the creative, which includes a wide range of promotional, advertising and event collateral. These add to the list of impressive events Spike has been involved with over the years.

Following on from last year’s highly successful campaign, Spike has worked with North Melbourne to create their Spirit Then, Now and Forever campaign for 2013. The video features club legend Glenn Archer and his son, Jackson in cameo roles.

In 2011, Spike adopted Challenge as an organisation to donate our time and resources to. The partnership has been very rewarding for all involved. Our contributions so far include financial donations raised through a charity box and fundraising by staff participating in the Run Melbourne Half Marathon, design of the Challenge magazine each quarter, cover design and layout for a book written by a Challenge patient, producing personalised footy cards for Challenge patients and Spike staff assisting at Challenge Teen Nights.

The AFL Players’ Association have released their 2011 Year in Review – their version of a traditional Annual Report, with a twist. Following their brand credo, the publication is written ‘By Players, For Players’ and has been designed (by Spike) in the style of a high-end, modern magazine to further engage the audience and steer away from the corporate coldness of most organisational Annual Reports. The document has been getting rave reviews, with the Players’ Association and Spike both receiving numerous compliments on the final product.

Spike has recently completed a 124-page hardcover catalogue for Sting Sports’ range of boxing and gym equipment. The client wanted something out of the ordinary that didn’t just advertise their products, but also told a story and had eye-catching design and interactive elements such as pull out posters.

Spike has won the tender to be the creative agency for the 2012 UCI Track Cycling World Championships to be held here in Melbourne. This adds to the impressive list of World Championship events Spike has undertaken, which includes the 2005 World Gymnastics Championships, the 2007 World Swimming Championships and the Hockey World Championships held in 2010.

PFD Food Services is one of Australia’s largest privately-owned companies and is a remarkable success story from its humble origins. Spike does a wide variety of work for this long-standing client, but were especially excited about the challenge of producing an informative video of the company’s history and operations in an interesting, animated style.

Select Australia have released series one of their Limited Edition Heritage Collection of AFL/VFL collector cards. A personally signed card, along with an action card for each of the 12 players is displayed on each page. Presented in a beautifully bound album that comes in a stunning presentation box, this first series contains some of the greatest names in Australian Football history. The same action shots of the 12 players in a small presentation box with a sleeve are also available. We’re proud to have worked on such a rare and prestigious project and delighted with the outcome of the product.
